Innovative eLearning During Apprenticeships

The project "ICB - Innovative Center for eLearning in the context of Professional Initial Training" develops the potential of the new media in the German apprenticeship program in the area of mechatronics; with the goal of optimizing education processes in the last year of the program.

Challenge
Within the framework of the project ICB innovative e-learning solutions for apprentices in companies are developed; with the goal of optimizing learning processes in the last year of the programs.

Solution
Support services, which are based on information and communication technologies and the new media are to be created; and which are targeted on creating the process of the company’s final exam in a time-effective and location-independent way.

For the implementation of those tasks online-services in the areas knowledge acquisition, knowledge transfer, coaching and interactive communication are available. The learning processes are supported by the fact that the single measures can be perfectly adapted onto the apprentice’s needs. At the same time improved coordination and polling possibilities.

In the project 15 learning modules are developed target-oriented and with respect to the training measure’s master plan using the example of the “company’s mission” for the final exam of the mechatronic technician to-be.In order to provide the editors with a simple, uniform and especially structured method to create learning content the use of community4you’s authoring and publishing system comm.editsweb was approved.

By means of comm.editsweb the methodically prepared learning content can be converted and transferred into comm.lms in a modular way and corresponding to defined layout parameters. In doing so, the entered structure in comm.editsweb reflects the navigation within the learning modules in comm.lms. The arranged content of the modules behind the structure entries are displayed on each available page.

comm.editsweb thus standardizes the content creation so that editors can concentrate on the professional content creation

Within the scope of the project ICB the script formatting defined in the didactical-technical concept and the predetermined content area are furnished in comm.editsweb with the help of corresponding templates. These templates facilitate a custom-fit transfer of the content into the learning environment of comm.lms. Complex post-editing is thus avoided.

The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) and the European Social Fund. The project implementation is headed by the Bildungs-Werkstatt Chemnitz gGmbH from June 2008 until Mai 2010 together with the companies ATB Arbeit, Technik und Bildung GmbH, PROREC GmbH as well as community4you GmbH. With its products comm.lms and comm.editsweb community4you is a conceptual and technical project partner.
