community4you AG: DAAD partnership with Georgia
A joint partnership project in cooperation with the West Saxon University of Zwickau (WHZ) for the promotion of higher education in Georgia
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is the Community body of German higher education institutions and student organisations that supports the establishment of international relations. Beside the international student exchange, DAAD helps developing countries to set up effective higher education institutions.
Joint project of WHZ and community4you AG in Georgia
The West Saxon University of Zwickau (WHZ) together with the software manufacturer community4you AG from Chemnitz has initiated a joint DAAD project under the name "Advanced practice orientation of studies in Georgia" that aims at the modernisation of the Georgian higher education system. In the role of industry partner, community4you AG helps students of computer science in Georgian partner universities Georgian Technic University (GTU) and International Black Sea University (IBSU) to gain an insight into everyday professional life.
Objectives of the higher education funding project
The West Saxon University of Zwickau (WHZ) - and in particular Prof. Dr. Georg Beier, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Engineering/Computer Science - has already participated in previous projects in Kyrgyzstan, inter alia initiated by Prof. Carl Hahn, the namesake of the representative office of community4you AG. The main objective of the current project is to apply and extend the expertise of the previous project to the Georgian higher education system and to reduce as well as in the long term to eliminate the identified structural restrictions. Furthermore in the focus of the project is the establishment of partnerships with companies that support a practice semester for students of computer science at partner universities. Within the duration of the project from 2015 to 2018 community4you AG will supervise overall 8 dissertations and 10 internships of Georgian students.
Our head offices are located in the villa in which Prof. Dr. Hahn, the later long-standing member of the executive board at Volkswagen AG spent his youth and is nowadays named after him in his honour. The visionary Prof. Dr. Hahn has recognised and promoted the importance of education throughout his entire life. As a company in the economic region of West Saxony we are proud to play a key role in the cooperation project for the development of the Georgian higher education system, a project whose forerunner has been initiated by Carl Hahn.
